Brief introduction of Chapter 10 Cell Cycle and Cell Division
In the chapter, we have understood that every living organism is made up of cells. Unicellular organisms performed all life processes in a single cell while multicellular organisms have a division of labour among constituent cells.
During the life of an organism, their bodies undergo different wear and tear due to which they get injured and also cells get dead. Such cells are needed to be replaced.
Cell division involves the division of a parent cell into newly formed daughter cells. The sequence of events followed during cell division is called the cell cycle.
Cell division is an important event that enables an organism to replace old or worn-out cells and also helps the organism to make it.
The cell division phase is preceded by a preparatory phase called the Interphase. S- phase of the interphase is responsible for the synthesis of DNA.
Cell division is of two types that is Mitosis and meiosis. Mitosis is an equational division which results in the formation of cells identical to their parents while meiosis produces daughter cells non-identical to parent cells.
Cell Cycles run smoothly for these different checkpoints are present between stages of the cell cycle.
