HCF Full Form

HCF Full Form: Highest number that divides each of the two or more numbers is the (Highest Common Factor) HCF. The Greatest Common Factor (HCF) is also known as Greatest Common Divisor (GCD).

What is HCF?

The highest factor that may evenly divide two numbers is the HCF of two numbers. HCF can be calculated using two or more numbers. It is the biggest divisor for any two or more numbers that can divide them evenly or fully.

Example: Because 15 is the greatest number that can divide both 60 and 75 perfectly, it is highest common factor of 60 and 75.

Counting Numbers

Properties of HCF

(i). The HCF of two or more numbers is the accurate division of the given numbers (ii). The HCF of prime numbers is always 1.
(iii). The HCF is always less than or equal to the numbers presented.

Finding the HCF of Three numbers

(i). Determine the HCF of two numbers.
(ii). Then Calculate the HCF of the third number and the HCF from step 1.
(iii). The HCF of the three numbers will be the HCF you got in step 2.

HCF of Four Numbers

(i). To begin, divide the four integers into two-digit pairs
(ii). Determine the HCF of a pair of numbers
(iii). Then, find the HCF of the HCFs you calculated earlier
(iv). The required HCF of four numbers will be the final HCF.

HCF of Prime Numbers

The HCF of any pair of prime numbers is always 1.
Why?
Because prime numbers have only two factors: one or the number itself. So, if no additional factor is present, the HCF of such values will be 1.
Example: HCF (2, 3) = 1
