Division Formula

About Division Formula

To divide an integer into equal halves, use the division formula. We use the symbols (÷) and (/) to signify division. As a result, "p divided by q" is written as (p ÷ q) or (p/q). In the following section, we'll look at the division formula and solve some cases. Do check out more Maths Formulas

What Is Division Formula?

The division formula is the division formula, which is one of the 4 basic arithmetic operations. The division formula is used to divide an integer into numerous equal parts. Division formula for a given value is as follows:

Dividend Divisor=Quotient

  • The dividend is the number that is to be divided
  • The divisor is a number to be divided with
  • The quotient is the result.

Division formula for the verification

We can verify the answer of division while using the division formula. For example, 8 ÷ 4 = 2, remainder = 0. In other words, 8 = 4 × 2 + 0. The method of verification can be expressed as follows:

Dividend = (Divisor × Quotient) + Remainder.

Let us consider one more example where the

  • Dividend = 12
  • Divisor = 3
  • Quotient = 4
  • Remainder = 0

Substituting value in the formula, we get 12 = (3 × 4) + 0. Therefore, our answer is correct.
