CAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta has released the CAT 2024 eligibility criteria along with the CAT notification. CAT Eligibility Criteria 2024

According to the CAT 2024 eligibility criteria, candidates must meet specific requirements set by the conducting body. Before filling out the CAT application form and beginning their exam preparation, candidates should first understand who is eligible for the CAT exam. Aspirants aiming to take this MBA entrance exam should meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a recognized university. 
  2. Candidates should secure a minimum of 50% for the open category and 45% for the SC/ST/PwD category. 
  3. Final-year bachelor's degree students are also eligible to apply for the CAT exam 2024, provided they submit a certificate of completion from the principal or registrar of their university or institution by the date stipulated by the respective IIMs. 
  4. Candidates with work experience will receive additional preference/weightage, though work experience is not mandatory according to CAT exam eligibility 2024.

For CAT 2024 eligibility, IIM specifies the academic qualifications and minimum marks candidates must achieve to be eligible to appear for the CAT exam.

CAT Eligibility: Marks Calculation

  1. Graduation marks are assigned based on the criteria set by the university or institute and are used to calculate CAT scores. 
  2. If universities use CGPAs or grades instead of marks, they will provide a conversion method to convert these into percentages. 
  3. If the university does not have a specific conversion method, candidates can directly convert their CGPA to a percentage by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum CGPA possible and multiplying the result by 100.

CAT Exam Eligibility Criteria - Registration with Backlogs

One of the most common questions from students with academic backlogs in their graduate program is whether they can enroll for the CAT 2024 exam. It should be clarified that CAT aspirants with academic backlogs during their graduate program can apply and register for the CAT exam without any problem.

Any candidate who scores above 50% (45% for the reserved category) in their degree (including supplementary exams) can apply for CAT 2024. When completing the CAT 2024 registration form, if asked, "Are you in your final year of your bachelor's degree?" select "Yes" to the question.

Person with Disability (PwD) - Reservation Policy

Candidates in the PwD category must bring a certificate issued by a competent authority to avail of the benefits. The benefits for PwD candidates are only provided upon submission of this certification. Below are the types of disabilities accepted under the PwD reservation:

  • Low vision/blindness
  • Hearing impairment
  • Locomotive disability or cerebral palsy

CAT 2024 Registration

Candidates can check the following details regarding the CAT 2024 application form:

  1. The CAT 2024 registration process began on August 1, 2024.
  2. The application form can be filled until September 13, 2024.
  3. Applications must be submitted online; no offline submissions via post or courier are accepted.
  4. Candidates need to upload a passport-size photograph and signature in the application form.
  5. Ensure eligibility criteria are met before filling out the application form.
  6. Candidates must select six preferred test cities.
  7. Provide a valid phone number and email ID during registration.
  8. After submitting the application form, take a printout for future reference.
