About Semicircle Formulas

A semicircle is a half-circle made by cutting a full circle along its diameter. Semicircle formulas can be used to compute various semicircle properties such as diameter, area, and perimeter. The diameter of a circle divides it into two semicircles of equal size. Any semicircle has half the surface area of a circle. The semicircle formulas include formulas for calculating a semicircle's area, perimeter, and circumference. The fact that a semicircle is half of a whole circle is the basis for these formulas.

semicircle

  • Area = 12 πr2
  • Perimeter = πr + d
  • Area of a Semicircle Formula

Because a semicircle is half a circle, the area of a semicircle will be half that of a circle. The radius of a circle is R, hence the area of a circle is πR2 . The region or interior space of a semi-circle is referred to as its area. Hence

  • Area semicircle = πR22 square units
  • where,
  • r = R - radius of a semicircle
  • π(pi) = 227 or 3.142 approximately.
  • Perimeter of a Semicircle Formula

The perimeter of semicircle is calculated using the perimeter of a semicircle formula. A circle's diameter or radius, as well as the length of the arc, must be known. Calculate the circumference of a circle to determine the length of the arc of the semicircle.

  • The circumference of a circle is C = πd or C = 2πr.
  • We may compute the perimeter of a semicircle using the value of C, which is equal to half of the circumference of the circle plus the diameter of a circle.
  • The perimeter of a semicircle formula = (πR + d) or (πR + 2R), or R(π + 2) units.

Where,

  • R = radius of a semicircle
  • π(pi) = 227 or 3.142 approximately, and,
  • d = Diameter of a semicircle.
  • Circumference of a Semicircle Formula

The length of arc around a semicircle is the circumference of the semicircle. It is half of a circle's circumference. The circumference of a semicircle differs from its perimeter in that the circumference is merely the length of the arc, which is the curved portion on the boundary, but the perimeter contains both circumference and diameter.

Circumference of semicircle formula = πR units
where,

  • R = radius of the semicircle
  • π(pi) = 227 or 3.142 approximately.
