Remainder Formula

About Remainder Formula

When dividend is not completely divisible by divisor, the remnant is the number or value that remains. The remainder formula assists in calculating the remainder obtained after dividing any two values. In terms of operands, the division operation is expressed as:

Dividend = Divisor ×Quotient + Remainder

Remainder Formula

To calculate the remainderis given as:

Remainder = Dividend - (Divisor × Quotient)

Example 2:A number when divided by 3 leaves remainder 1 and quotient as 33. Find that number.

Solution:

  1. Dividend = ?
  2. Divisor = 3
  3. Quotient = 33
  4. Remainder= 1
  5. We know,
  6. Dividend = Divisor × Quotient + Remainder
  7. = 3 × 33 + 1
  8. =100

Answer:Required number = 100
