A brief explanation of Chapter 4 Simple Equations.
"In solving equations, you need to know what each variable in an equation represents. Variables are generally denoted by generic alphabets, such as x or y. The quantities of the variables change whenever a factor in the equation changes. This way, it is possible to determine the value of a variable by solving the equation by substituting that number for the other one. Once you have determined the values of the variables, you will need to solve the equation.
A common example of a simple equation is the number of apples in a basket containing 200 apples. In this example, the number of oranges is twice as many as the number of apples. In this equation, the number of apples is three times more than the number of oranges, and the total number of fruits in the basket is two hundred. The same principle applies to equations: if the number of apples is twice as many as the number of oranges, the total number of apples is three times as many as the number of oranges.
Aside from solving equations in everyday life, simple equations are also used by professionals in other fields. For instance, a census employee uses simple equations to calculate demographic totals, percentages, and ratios. A statistician applies linear algebra to population studies to make calculations. These concepts are important to many other fields of science and engineering, including computer science, software engineering, and cybersecurity. Therefore, students need to understand the importance of equations in everyday life."
