Chapter-24 Probability

About RS Aggarwal Solutions for Class 8 Maths Chapter-24 Probability

Let's discuss Chapter 24 of Class 8 Maths, which is "Probability."

Introduction to Probability:

Probability is the measure of the likelihood or chance of an event occurring.

It is expressed as a number between 0 and 1, where 0 represents an impossible event, and 1 represents a certain event.

Experiment and Sample Space:

An experiment is a process that leads to the observation of an outcome.

The set of all possible outcomes of an experiment is called the sample space.

Events:

An event is a subset of the sample space.

Events can be classified as certain, impossible, or uncertain (random).

Certain event: An event that will definitely happen. Probability = 1.

Impossible event: An event that will never happen. Probability = 0.

Random event: An event that may or may not happen. The probability lies between 0 and 1.

Calculating Probability:

The probability of an event is calculated using the formula: Probability of an event = (Number of favourable outcomes) / (Number of possible outcomes).

The probability can be expressed as a fraction, decimal, or percentage.

Types of Probability:

Experimental Probability: Probability based on observations or experiments.

Theoretical Probability: Probability is based on theoretical calculations and assumptions.
