Women’s participation in the Civil Disobedience Movement was mere symbolic in character. Discuss.

Strong participation of women was seen in Civil Disobedience Movement.
Women came out from their homes to listen Gandhiji during his salt march also.
They were involved in almost all the activities including the protests, manufacturing of salt, boycotting foreign materials e.t.c.
Their image was symbolic in character as congress did not gave them higher position of authority.
The participation of women did not make any radical change in their status in the society.
