Why is Kerala known as the spice garden of India?

India has long been known for its spices. Kerala is renowned as India’s “spice garden” because it produces a wide variety of spices. These spices enhance the flavour of our cuisine. Kerala has become the “Spice Trade Hub,” with spices exported to all parts of the world. Spices are grown in specific areas such as Idukki and Wayanad. Some of the favourable circumstances for the growth of these spices are a hot and humid temperature and an abundance of damp and loamy soil. Summer is the greatest season for spice cultivation in Kerala. Spices not only improve the taste of our food, but they also help us keep our bodies healthy and disease-free. The ancient Indian Ayurveda has always recommended the therapeutic use of spices. Many spices, including white pepper, star anise, vanilla, and mace, are grown in Kerala.
