Why do we use concave lenses for correcting myopia?

When a person suffers from myopia, the image of an object at a large distance is formed in front of the retina instead of the retina itself. Therefore, concave lenses are used to diverge light rays in order to form an image on the retina. Hence, concave lenses are used for correcting myopia.
