Jai Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Slogan
The famous words “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan,” which means “Praise the Soldier, Praise the Farmer,” were said by Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was India’s second Prime Minister. He came up with these words in 1965 when India and Pakistan were at war. Shastri wanted to encourage and honor two very important groups in India: the soldiers and the farmers.
He said “Jai Jawan” to cheer on and thank the soldiers who were fighting for the country. It was his way of showing them respect and gratitude for their courage and hard work.
The second part, “Jai Kisan,” was to show how important farmers are in India. Shastri knew that farmers played a key role in making sure India had enough food. During a time when India was trying to grow more food and not rely on other countries, this part of the phrase was a shout-out to farmers for their important work.
