Standing at a towering height of 260 meters, Tehri Dam is one of the tallest dams in Asia and the highest one in India. It stretches for 575 meters in length, has a crest width of 20 meters, and a base width of 1,128 meters. Tehri Dam serves as a giant reservoir, holding about 2.6 cubic kilometers of water and covering an area of 52 square kilometers. This dam is a massive hydroelectric project, drawing water from the Bhagirathi and Bhilangana rivers, which originate in the Himalayas. In addition to providing water for farming and everyday use, the dam also generates a whopping 1,000 megawatts of hydroelectric power.
