What is the main function of cornea in eye?

The primary role of the cornea is to bend and focus light. It accounts for about 60 to 75% of the eye’s focusing power, with the lens contributing the rest. The lens can change shape to help us see things that are far away or close up.

The outer layer of the cornea, called the corneal epithelium, helps spread tears over the cornea to keep it wet. This helps us see clearly.
