What is Energy?
Energy is the ability to do work. It exists in various forms like Kinetic Energy, Potential energy, Thermal energy, electrical energy, chemical energy, Nuclear energy.
It is quite interesting to note that energy can be transferred from one object to another.
For instance, if a moving car accidentally hits a stationary car then it causes the stationary car to move. It is because the energy possessed by the moving car is transferred to the stationary upon contact and this makes the stationary car to move.
What is the unit of Energy?
The amount of work being done by the object is due to the energy obtained by the object. Hence the unit of energy will be equal to the unit of work done. Thus, the S.I. unit of energy is Joules.
