What is CSA of the cube (Curved Surface Area)

The Curved Surface Area (CSA) of a cube refers to the total surface area of its six faces, excluding the areas of the top and bottom faces. Since a cube has all its faces as squares, each face has the same area.

The formula for the Curved Surface Area (CSA) of a cube is given by:

CSA=4×side

CSA=4×side2

where:

  • CSACSA is the curved surface area,
  • sideside is the length of one side of the cube.

The factor of 4 in the formula accounts for the fact that a cube has four vertical faces (excluding the top and bottom). Each of these faces has an area equal to the side squared. When you add up the areas of these four faces, you get the Curved Surface Area.

It’s important to note that if you want to find the total surface area of the cube (including the top and bottom faces), you would use the formula:

Total Surface Area=6×side2Total Surface Area=6×side2

This includes the areas of all six faces of the cube.
