What is Coalition Government?

A coalition government is a type of government where different political parties work together to run the country. This usually happens when no one party wins enough votes to govern alone after an election, which often occurs with proportional representation voting systems. Sometimes, during tough times or crises, these governments are formed to make the government seem more legitimate and united, and to reduce fighting among political groups. Coalition governments aim to unite as many parties as possible to foster harmony and healing in society. They are generally short-term partnerships, created when no single party has a decisive victory, leading to various parties coming together to cooperate. In a coalition government, people from all the involved parties are often given positions in the cabinet.
