What is a balanced chemical equation? Why should chemical equations be balanced?

Balanced Chemical equation is a representation of a chemical process in the form of components. Balanced chemical equation said to be the one of the that chemical equation in which the number of atoms in all of the molecules is equal in reactant as well as product side.

Chemical equation should be balanced due to following reasons:

Balanced chemical equations must follow the Law of Conservation of Mass.
This law states that in any chemical reaction mass cannot be generated or destroyed and the total mass of the elements or molecules present on the reactant side should be equal to the total mass of elements or molecules present on the product side.
The law of conservation does not apply if the chemical equation is not balanced.

A balanced chemical equation is one in which the number of atoms in all of the molecules is equal on both sides of the equation. Balanced reaction must follow the law of conservation of mass.
