What do you mean by a solenoid?

A coil of insulated or enamelled wire wound on a rod-shaped form constructed of solid iron, solid steel, or powdered iron is known as a solenoid. The core material of a solenoid is ferromagnetic, which means it concentrates magnetic lines of flux.
