What are the land and sea breezes? Explain their formation.

We know that the heating and cooling of land is faster than that of water.

In areas with water bodies nearby we observe land and sea breeze.

In the day,
The land heats up faster than sea as a consequence the air above it heats up,while the air above sea is cooler. This hot air rises up and the cold air from the water body rushes to take its place. This flow of air is called Sea breeze

In the night
The land cools up faster than sea as a consequence the air above it is cooler, while the water body is still hot , the hot air above it rises and the cold air rushes to take its place. This flow of air is called Land breeze.

Final Answer.

The flow of cold air from sea to land in the day is called Sea breeze, and the flow of cold air from the land to the sea at night is called Land breeze
