What are monocarpic and polycarpic plants?


Monocarpic plants:

The plants in which flowering occurs only once in their whole living period or lifetime are called monocarpic plants.
Generally, the monocarpic plants become dead after one time of flowering or fruiting.
The monocarpic plants are biennial (living up to two years) or perennial (living more than two years).
Some examples of monocarpic plants are Carrot, Rice, Wheat, etc.

Polycarpic plants:

The plants in which flowering occurs more than once or many times or each year in their lifetime are called monocarpic plants.
The polycarpic plants do not die after one time of flowering or fruiting.
Mostly, the polycarpic plants are perennial.
Some examples of polycarpic plants are Apple, Grapes, Mango, etc.
Monocarpic plants are those which produce seeds and flowers only once in their lifetime.
Polycarpic plants are those which produce seeds and flowers more than once in their lifetime.
