What are Conductors and Insulators?

What are Electrical Conductors?

Electric conductors are materials that allow the electric current to flow through them.

Examples of conductors

Almost all metals conduct electricity. Examples of electrical conductors are copper, silver, gold, aluminium, iron, mercury and many more.

The human body is also a conductor of electricity. This is the reason we get an electric shock if we are not careful. The electric current flows through the body towards the earth.

What are Electrical Insulators?

Electric insulators are materials that do not allow the electricity to flow through them.

Examples of insulators

Examples of insulators are air, plastic, rubber, cotton and wood.
