Sino – atrial node is called as the pacemaker of our heart. Why?

A human heart is myogenic in nature.
It can generate impulse by itself for excitation.
A nodal tissue sinoatrial node (SA node) which is present at the right upper corner of right atrium produces an electrical signal that starts muscle contraction of the heart.
As sino-atrial node starts and maintains the rhythm of contraction of the heart it is called as pacemaker of our heart.

Final Answer- SA-node is the tissue that generates the signal for contraction of hearts and maintains the rhythm without any external stimulus, thus it is called as pacemaker of our heart.
