In the context of reproduction of species state the main difference between fission and fragmentation. Also, give one example of each.

In unicellular forms of life, fission is the technique of asexual reproduction. The parent organism separates into two or more daughter cells during this phase. For example – Amoeba and Plasmodium.

Fragmentation is a process that occurs in multicellular organisms. When the filament matures, it splits into two or more sections. These fragments then develop into new individuals. For example- Spirogyra.
