What are the different lobes of the brain?
There are four lobes of the brain divided by fissures: frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, and temporal lobe.
- Frontal lobe
Frontal lobe enables us to think, learn, grasp things, solve difficult problems, and communicate fluently.
- Parietal lobe
Parietal lobe plays a very important role in processing sensory information within seconds. The lobe senses touch, pressure, and pain. It also helps in the movement and control of the five senses.
- Occipital lobe
Occipital lobe takes care of visual processing and colour recognition.
- Temporal lobe
The temporal lobe is associated with recognition and interpretation of sound and smell. It helps us understand speed. It is also responsible for visual and verbal memory.
