In standard indoor volleyball, each team consists of six players on the court at a time. The positions are typically as follows:
Three Front Row Players:
These players are positioned close to the net and are involved in both offensive and defensive plays. They include the outside hitter, middle blocker, and right-side hitter.
Three Back Row Players:
These players start behind the front row and are mainly defensive specialists. They include the setter, libero, and another outside hitter (often known as the opposite hitter).
The libero is a specialized defensive player who wears a different color jersey and has certain restrictions on attacking. The libero can replace any back-row player without prior notice to the officials.
It’s important to note that beach volleyball, a variant of volleyball played on sand, has different rules and team sizes. In beach volleyball, each team consists of two players on the court at a time.
