Explain how a rocket works.

The action-reaction principle governs the operation of a rocket. The hot gases produced by the rapid burning of fuel in a rocket rush out at a high pace through a jet at the bottom of the rocket. Because of the equal and opposite reaction force of the downward traveling gasses, the rocket accelerates upward.
