Define monotonic preferences of the consumer

As per the concept of monotonic preferences, a rational consumer will always demand more quantity of a particular good or service, as he or she will derive greater satisfaction from consuming more.
As per this concept, “more” is always favored as compared to “less”.
When a consumer has to choose between two particular sets of a product, a consumer preference will be monotonic, when he chooses the set which has more quantity of atleast one particular goods, and nothing less than what is in the other sets.
