Define Geitonogamy


Pollination refers to the transfer of pollen grains from anther of a flower to the receptive part that is the stigma of a flower.
Based on the source of pollen grains, there are different types of Pollination-
Autogamy- A type of self-pollination in which pollen grains are transferred within the same flower.
Geitonogamy-It is a type of pollination in which pollen grains are genetically identical, but their transfer occurs between the different flowers of the same plant.
Xenogamy- It is a type of cross pollination where pollen grains are transferred between flowers of different plants.
Geitonogamy is a type of self-pollination where transfer of pollen grains takes place from anther to the stigma of different flowers but of the same plant.
