What is the Biogeochemical cycle?
A biogeochemical cycle is any of the natural pathways by which essential elements of living matter are circulated. The term biogeochemical is a contraction that refers to the consideration of the biological, geological, and chemical aspects of each cycle.
There are three components of the biogeochemical cycle:
- Biotic components: The living components form the biotic
- Abiotic components: The non-living components form the abiotic
- Chemical components: The decaying of the organic matter forms the chemical components.
