Chrysophytes: It includes Diatoms and Golden algae (desmids)

a) Found both in fresh and marine water.

b) Float passively in water currents (plankton)

c) The cell wall of diatoms is in two parts, fitting in together like a soapbox.

d) Walls are indestructible as embedded with silica.

e) Due to presence of silica, over the year they form diatomaceous earth, which is used in polishing & filtration of oil and syrups.

f) They are chief producers in the oceans.
