Question

Diamond is hard due to covalent bonds present between the carbon atoms . There are four valence electrons of carbon in its  outer shell that make the covalent bond with the carbon atoms and the structure formed is the tetrahedral crystal. This strong bonding between the carbon atoms makes the diamond much stronger.
