What is Tissue and types of Tissue?

It is a group of cells that are similar in structure and work together to achieve a particular function.

Two types of tissue

• Plant tissue-- it is of 2 types.
• Meristematic tissue-They are the simple living tissues which keep on dividing throughout life . They have a thin primary cell wall made up of cellulose. There is no intercellular space due to compact tissue structure. They are found in growing region. Eg - root and shoot.
• Permanent tissue- They are composed of those cells which have lost their capability to divide. They have definite shape, size and thickness they may be dead or living .
• Animal tissue - it is of 4 types- Epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscular tissue and neural tissue
