Difference between multimolecular and macromolecular colloids:
Multimolecular colloids form with low molecular weight molecules whereas macromolecular colloids form with high molecular weights molecules.
Multimolecular colloids form with molecules having diameter less than 1nm whereas macromolecular colloids form molecules having diameter in colloidal range.
Multimolecular colloids have weak van der Waal force between the molecules .But macromolecular colloids have strong chemical force present in the molecules
Example:
Examples of multimolecular colloids: -Gold sol consist of thousands of particles held together by vander Waals forces..
Examples of macromolecular colloids: cellulose, proteins
Associated colloids different from these two types of colloids:
Associated colloids are formed by electrolytes. When they are dissociated into ions, combine together to form ionic micelles ,size lies in the colloidal range, e.g. soaps.
Multimolecular colloids and Macromolecular colloids - form due to aggregation of a large number of molecules.
