Capital of Nepal

Kathmandu is the capital and most populous city of Nepal. It is located in the Kathmandu valley at an altitude of 1400m. It lies in a hilly region near the confluence of the baghmati and vishumati rivers. It was founded by Raja gunakamadeva in 723.

Kathmandu is a valley surrounded by Nagarjun, shivapuri and phulchowki hills. It is a combination of 3 districts namely, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and bhaktapur. It is and has been for many years the centre of Nepal's history, art, culture and economy. It comprises a multi- ethnic population within a Hindu and Buddhist majority.

Kathmandu is known as the city of temples because it has many ancient pagodas and stupas. It has Pashupatinath temple, swayambhunath temple, boudha stupa, bhaktapur and patan durbar square.

Other places of interest would be the tribhuvan park , the chauni museum and Hanuman dhoka. One can also go to the changu narayan temple, which is the oldest temple of Nepal.

Kathmandu used to be known as Kantipur- city of glory. Kathmandu is very popular because of the cultural diversity and lifestyles of the people.There are plenty of hotels and places to eat out for tourists and the locals.there is no lack of entertainment in Kathmandu. One can go to the dragon world with children for a day of leisure or simply go for a drive around ring road.hence Kathmandu is a good city with all the modern facilities.
