The kavaratti is the capital of the union territory lakshadweep in India. This island lies 360 km off the coast of kerala. It's area is 3.93 sq km. It has been selected as one of the hundred Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under PM Modi's flagship smart cities mission.

It has warm sandy beaches where tourists can unwind themselves though the beaches are narrow, the lagoons around it are fabulous with starfish, sea cucumbers, countless multi- hued fishes.

It has the maximum number of mosques in lakshadweep. Its climate is similar to the climatic conditions of kerala. March to May is the hottest period of the year . temperature ranges from 25 degree celsius to 35 degree celsius. Humidity ranging from 70-76% for most of the year. Major industries on this island are fisheries and agriculture. Coconut is the Dominant crop .
