What is the bhabar?

Explanation: Bhabar is a narrow band about 810 km wide, running east to west  along the foothills of the Sivalik Hills in the Himalayas, showing a marked continuity from the Indus to the Tista. The Bhabar belt is relatively narrow in the east and vast in the hills of the west and northwest. The area is not suitable for agriculture, so only large trees with large roots grow in this zone.
