India and China are the world’s leading producers of silk. The silk output of these two countries combined accounts for over 60% of the global production.
For the production of mulberry silk, the sericulture process takes place in three steps

Silkworm rearing
Silk reeling
In the end the silk elements are woven together to form thread which are often piled together to form the yarn
