Describe the circulation of lymph ?
Question
- Lymph is a colourless, mobile, fluid connective tissue.
- When blood is flowing with pressure in the arteries, some water and dissolved solutes are filtered out from blood plasma into the tissue spaces, to form interstitial fluid.
- Some of the tissue fluid enters the tiny channels called lymph vessels to form
lymph.
- An elaborate network of vessels called the lymphatic system collects this fluid and drains it back to the major veins.
Function of Lymph:
- Lymph is an important carrier for nutrients, hormones, etc.
- Lymph has specialised lymphocytes, that provide immunity.
- Plasma proteins synthesized by the liver are taken by the lymph into blood for circulation.
