What is living?

An organism is said to be living when it shows following characteristics.

1.Growth

2. Reproduction

3. Metabolism

4. Cellular organization

5. Consciousness

Growth in living is internal and irreversible.

Few living organism don’t reproduce e.g Mule.

Metabolism is living reaction which lead to growth and development of the body.

All living organisms are made up of cell.

Consciousness is response to stimulus

Metabolism, cellular organization and consciousness is defining feature of living while growth and reproduction are fundamental features.
