These are the devices that are used to give data or instructions into a computer. It allows input of raw data into the computer for processing.

Name of input device-

• Keyboard- It is one of the primary input devices used to input data and commands. It has function keys, arrow keys, control keys, keypad and the keyboard itself with the letters , numbers and commands.
• Mouse- It is an input device that is used to control the cursor and coordinates. It can be wired or wireless. It is used for moving the mouse cursor, select, scroll, open a program,drag and drop.
• Microphone- it is an input device that allows users to input audio into their computers. It is used for the following reasons. Audio for video, computer gaming, online chatting, recording musical instruments, voice recorder etc.
• Joystick- it is a device that comprises a stick which is attached at an angle to the base so that it can be moved or controlled. It is mostly used to control the movement in video games.
• Light pen- it is light sensitive. It is a wand- like looking device which can be directly moved over the device's screen.
• Scanner- It scans images or text and converts it into a digital signal.
• Barcode reader- it is a kind of an optical scanner. It can read bar codes. A source of light is passed through a bar code and its aspects and details are displayed on the screen.
