Types of simple tissues in plants are

(i) Parenchyma: Its cells are generally isodiametric. They may be spherical, oval, round, polygonal or elongated also. Cells are either closely packed or with small intercellular spaces.

(ii) Collenchyma: Cells may be oval, spherical or polygonal without intercellular spaces. Cells may contain chloroplast and their corners are much thickened due to deposition of cellulose, hemicelluloses and pectin.

(iii) Sclerenchyma: Consists of long, narrow or spherical, oval/cylindrical cells with thick and lignified cell walls with pits. They are usually dead.
