Weather and climate

Weather is the state of atmosphere over an area at any point of time. It is day to day phenomenon. Weather conditions may fluctuate very often even within a day. Climate is the sum total of weather conditions and variations over a large area for a long period of time . It is a weather condition for more than thirty years.

Difference

• Weather is the condition of the atmosphere over a short period of time whereas climate is the Average weather of a place over a period of many years.
• Weather can change within a few minutes or hours whereas the climate takes a very long time to change.
• Weather is not constant whereas climate is constant.
• Weather is reported as a forecast whereas climate is reported as averages over time.
• Study of weather is meteorology whereas study of climate is climatology.
