Question
Alloys can be defined as mixtures of metals in definite ratio for most parts i.e. homogeneous in characteristic;some non-metals may also be present in minor quantities in certain kind of alloys. For formation of alloys, metal is initially melted and then other metals and/or metals are added depending on composition.
Two examples are enumerated as follows:
i)Bronze-containing 80%Cu and around 20% Sn, though small amounts of some other metals and non-metals are also present.
ii)Brass-Cu and Zn.
Hence, alloys are mixtures of multiple metals and few non-metals in definite ratio for most parts.
Examples include brass and bronze.
