Question
The five medieval Indian kingdoms are known as the Deccan Sultanates.
The five sultanates on the Deccan plateau controlled by Muslim dynasties were Berar, Bidar, Ahmadnagar, Golconda, and Bijapur. They came from a variety of places.
They formed an alliance and left Vijayanagara's realm irrevocably weakened. These five dynasties rose to power after the disintegration of the Bahmani Sultanate, but they declined in the mid-seventeenth century. In 1490, Ahmednagar declared independence, followed by Bijapur and Berar in the same year.
