How is the root system of dicotyledons different from that of monocotyldons plants?

In dicotyledons plants the radical elongates into primary root bearing lateral secondary and tertiary roots giving rise to tap root system.

In monocotydons plants the primary root is short lived and is replaced by large no. of roots arising from the base of stem. This is called fibrous root system.
