Question

The ease of pulling or pushing depends on the friction acting on it by the ground.

When we pull an object with force F, the vertical component of force will act upward. Thus, the net vertical force will be less than the weight of the object.

So, the normal force will be less and the friction will also be less.

When we push an object with a force F, the verical component of force will act downward. Thus, the net vertical force will be more than the weight of the object.

So, the normal force will be more and the friction will be more.

Thus, pulling is easier than pushing.

Pulling is easier than pushing as the normal force in pulling is less due to which the friction produced will also be less.
