A typical bisexual flower contain 4 whorls, 2 accessory whorls and 2 reproductive whorls.

Accessory whorls are Sepals and Petals and they don't take part in reproduction.

Sepals are green in colour and protect a flower in its bud stage.

Petals are colourful and attract insects for pollination.

Reproductive whorls are Androecium and Gynoecium and is responsible for production of male and female gamete respectively.


A typical complete flower have all four whorls Sepals, Petals, Androecium and Gynoecium out of the outer two whorls forms accessory whorls (Sepals and Petals) and rest two whorls forms reproductive whorls (Androecium and Gynoecium).
