Frequency Formula

About Frequency Formula

The frequency formula is used to calculate a wave's frequency. The number of cycles performed per unit time is known as frequency. It also indicates how many crests pass through a certain spot in a given amount of time. It's also known as the reciprocal of time. The unit of frequency is Hertz (Hz). The frequency of the wave is calculated using the frequency formula.

What do you mean by Frequency Formula?

The total number of repetitions of a repeating event per unit of time is known as frequency. Depending on the quantities known, multiple frequency formulas can be used to calculate frequency. Frequency (f), time period (T), wave speed (V), and wavelength () are all calculated using the wave frequency formula. One cycle per second is one Hertz.

Frequency Formula
The formula for frequency is as follows:
Formula: In terms of time, the frequency formula is as follows:
f = 1/T
Here,f is the hertz frequency measured in m/s, and T is the number of seconds it takes to complete one cycle.

Formula: In terms of wavelength and wave speed, the frequency formula is as follows:
f = ?/λ
here, ? is the wave's speed in m/s, and λ is the wave's wavelength in m

Formula: In terms of angular frequency, frequency is expressed as,
f = ω/2π
Here ω is the angular frequency

Example: Find the frequency of a wave with a cycle time of 0.5s using the frequency formula.

Sol: To find the Frequency, It is given that
Time = 0.5s
Using frequency formula
f = 1 / T
f = 1 / 0.5
f = 2
Hence, frequency is 2Hz.
