The full form of SPSS is "Statistical Package For The Social Sciences". SPSS is used for complex statistical data analysis by various researchers. The SPSS software package was developed for the social science data processing and also statistical analysis.

SPSS Inc. originally introduced by SPSS in 1968 and later bought by IBM in 2009. SPSS is basically a package of tools used to evaluate results. This software is used in many industries, including health sciences, market analysts, data miners, marketing organizations, government analysts, and education.

History

  • It was published as SPSS in 1968. Version 10 (SPSS – X) came in 1983 and data sets could include different forms of records.
  • Versions 16.0 and later could run under Linux, Mac, and Windows. SPSS revealed July 28, 2009 IBM acquires it.
  • Due to a name ownership conflict, the company was renamed PASW (Predictive Analytics Software).
  • In January 2010, it became SPSS, a subsidiary of IBM. On October 1, 2010, IBM acquired full ownership.
